What is CranioSacral?
CranioSacral Therapy is a light touch, hands on, whole body method of releasing restrictions around the brain and spinal cord, to enhance central nervous system performance and allow the body to self-correct. The CranioSacral system is soft tissues and fluid that protect your brain and spinal cord.
A session takes place similarly to the Reiki Treatment, fully clothed on a table while the therapist gently places their hands in certain places along the spinal cord and head monitoring the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system. Carefully listening with the hands to locate areas of weak fluid or tissue motion, the therapist can locate the area of weakness through the body to the original source of dysfunction.
The therapy can last an hour or more. Because each individual response to CST is unique, the number of sessions needed to resolve any particular conditions varies widely.
Your body can only handle so much tension before the tissues begin to tighten and potentially affect the brain and spinal cord. It can compromise the function of the central nervous system and the performance of every other system in the body. This practice strengthens the body’s natural healing processes to bolster its resistance to disease and improve overall health. It is also effective for a wide range of medical challenges associated with pain and dysfunction including:
- Migraines and headaches
- Autism and learning disabilities
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Motor-coordination impairments
- Infant and childhood disorders
- Brain and spinal cord injuries
- Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
- TMJ Syndrome and scoliosis
- Central Nervous System Disorder
- ADD/ADHD and PTSD
